Bagua and Willow Leaf Blades

Over the past two decades we have received numerous requests from our customers asking us to produce a line of swords. During this period, we have tried to honor these requests and have made numerous prototypes but at the critical testing stage, all fell short of our expectations. Now we are delighted to announce we have finally found a small factory in China capable of making real battle worthy swords that meet our standards and expectations for strength, cutting power, and most importantly, workmanship. Each sword blade is hand forged out of 1050 spring steel and individually heat treated, tempered and polished by skilled hands. Please don't mistake these swords for that "just for show" junk sold by our competitors or in the martial arts magazines. These ARE the genuine article; real, battle-ready weapons that you can bet your life on.

Butterfly Swords

Butterfly Swords

Prior to World War II, the Butterfly Sword was virtually unknown outside of southern China. This changed at the close of the 1940's, when the Communists took control of mainland China, forcing many Kung Fu masters to flee the oppressive regime and establish new schools elsewhere. Currently, due to the spread of Kung Fu, the once obscure swords have become so popular that they transcend many geographic boundaries and many martial styles.

They are popular because, compared to other swords, they have so much to offer in a relatively small package. Typically, Butterfly Swords come in pairs that are cleverly nested together so they appear to be one sword not two. When they are drawn, they can be quickly separated and wielded in both hands to make wickedly effective chops, slashes and thrusts. Because Butterfly Swords are equipped with a unique "D" shaped guard, they offer a lot of protection to the hand and enable a skilled practitioner to effectively oppose enemies wielding much longer weapons.

The battle worthy blades are 15" long and 25/8" wide. They are hand forged out of 1050 high carbon steel and given a spring temper. A mirror polished finish and razor sharp edge ensure that they will shear through flesh and bone with equal aplomb!

The handsome slip-proof grip features carefully selected hardwood covered with attractively braided cord. The "D" shaped guard has a long forward quillion, so it can both deflect and trap various opposing weapons.

Finally, our Butterfly Swords are complemented with an attractive leather scabbard, designed specially to accept both Butterfly Swords.

Chinese War Sword

Few swords are more intimidating or more effective than the two handed Chinese War Sword. Its huge, wide blade will shear through armor as if it were butter, not to mention mere flesh and bones. There is nothing clumsy or awkward about this sword. Its 14" cord wrapped grip, "S" shaped guard, and steel ring pommel all work in concert to make it a well balanced weapon that's unbelievably fast and agile.

Gim Sword (Wu Jian)

The blade of our Wu Jian is made out of 1050 spring steel and measures 28" long by 11/2" wide. For cutting and slashing, both edges are quite sharp and they terminate in a strong, useful point for stabbing. The traditionally styled guard and pommel are cast out of thick sturdy brass and fit snugly on a stout wood and cord wrapped handle that is both highly decorative as well as functional.

Two Handed Gim Sword
Two Handed Gim Sword
Two Handed Gim Sword

This type of sword was usually reserved for only the strongest warriors in ancient China, as some specimens weighed over 6 pounds! The long heavy blade cut a wide swath and thus could smash through the defenses of enemy soldiers who were armed with shorter and lighter weapons. It was a natural for defending tight spaces like gates and passage ways where there was room for only a single warrior to fight.

Our version is a bit lighter than some of the originals, giving one the option of wielding it with one or both hands. The battle-tough, hand forged blade is made from 1050 high carbon steel and is embellished with a decoratively cast brass guard and pommel which are fitted to an attractive hardwood handle covered with tightly braided cord. A rosewood scabbard is included. It is accented with decorative brass fittings.

Dao (Kung Fu Sword)
Dao (Kung Fu Sword)The Kungfu Sword or Dao (1011-GT) is undoubtedly the best weapon-upgrade sword for its type commercially available. Unlike the many decorative and theatrical versions of this sword, the Hanwei product is a true replica of the originals. The distaltapered blade and traditional hand-tied grip make for superb handling. A brass-mounted scabbard is included.Long the traditional weapon of China's peasant armies, the Dadao, or fighting sword (1012-GT), was used with deadly effect as late as the 1930's in the Sino-Japanese war.

Ch'ing Sword
Ch'ing SwordThe traditional perception of the form of the Kung Fu sword becomes very apparent in the Ch'ing Sword (2007-GT). The last of the Chinese Dynasties, the Ch'ing (or Qing) Dynasty (1644-1911) was overthrown by rebellion as late as 1911, by which time the Kung Fu sword had completed its evolution in to the "modern" form. Crafted around a beautifully pattern-welded bladeof flattened diamond section with the guard and pommel in gilded steel, both featuring a flying bat design. The scabbard decoration are in gilded brass and the intricate knotwork of the tassel is art in its own right.

Dadao
Dadaothe Dadao, or fighting sword (1012-GT), was used with deadly effect as late as the 1930's in the Sino-Japanese war. Its single- or two-handed versatility, combined with the termendous slashing power of its weight-forward blade made it the ideal close-quarters weapon.

Han Sword
Han SwordThe Han Sword is a cavalry pattern from the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220), which reunited China and established boundaries very similar to those existing today. The rosewood grip and scabbard are inlaid with silver in an intricate scroll pattern, while the gilded steel guard, pommel and scabbard decorations feature the "crouching tiger" motif. Therandom pattern Damascus blade, with its ridged central fuller and reinforced point is admirably suited for slashing cuts and powerful thrusts from horseback.
